Board of Directors - Aoraki Development Business and Tourism

Ken McKenzie, Board Chair

Ken has served on the Board of Central South Island Tourism (CSIT) since 2006 (previously as Chair) and now continues as Chair of the Board of Aoraki Development, Business and Tourism.

A practicing lawyer of approximately 25 years, Ken is a partner in Timaru law firm RSM Law, where he provides advice in areas such as business law, trusts, wills, estate planning, leases, company law, residential, rural and commercial conveyancing, and property transactions.

Currently Chair of the Craighead School Foundation (and past Board Chair of Craighead Diocesan School Board of Trustees), Ken also serves on the Board of the Bidwill Trust Hospital, the Management Committee of the Citizens Advice Bureau, and is a past delegate to the Canterbury District Law Society. Ken also acts as Honorary Solicitor for many South Canterbury clubs and charities.


Peter Anderson
Born and raised in Southland, Peter moved to Canterbury around 20 years ago. With a career spent in transport and logistics, Peter has held management roles in Oamaru, Christchurch, West Coast, Nelson and for the last 16 years, Timaru.

In his current role, Peter is Director and part owner of Hilton Haulage Transport, which operates approx 100 trucks from depots in both Timaru and Christchurch. Peter is also a Director of three other companies associated to the transport industry.

Peter has served on the Board of Aoraki Development Trust since 2007, now continuing on the Board of Aoraki Development, Business and Tourism.

Peter has also maintained an active involvement in several other South Canterbury community, sports and school boards and committees over the years.


Michael Oliver
With a strong history in the agricultural sector both as a farmer and contractor, Michael now pursues other business interests in South Canterbury including commercial property and computer software.

With a strong interest in economic and social development of South Canterbury, Michael is also involved in the establishment of a local community irrigation scheme, has served as a Councillor on the Timaru District Council since 2001 and is a Director of the Timaru District Council Holding Company TDHL.

Michael has been a Board member of the Aoraki Development Trust since 2004 and now serves on the Board of Aoraki Development, Business and Tourism.


Dr William Rolleston
Dr Rolleston is Production Director of South Pacific Sera Limited - a farming based biotechnology firm located in South Canterbury. He is a qualified medical practitioner and past chairman of Biotenz - the New Zealand biotechnology industry association.

Dr Rolleston is also a director of several companies, Chair of the Life Sciences Network, Provincial President of Federated Farmers South Canterbury and serves on the Board of the Foundation for Science Research and Technology. Dr Rolleston was awarded the NZBio Distinguished Biotechnologist of the Year in 2009.

Having served on the Board of the Aoraki Development Trust since 2002, Dr Rolleston continues as a Director of Aoraki Development, Business and Tourism

George Harper

George was born in Geraldine and has been involved in the business sector for over 25 years.
In 1985, after 13 years of living and working in Auckland, George returned to Geraldine where he is currently CEO/Director of Lynn River Ltd, a company which specialises in the distribution of gloves and safety products throughout New Zealand and Australia. Previously George worked as Business Development Manager at RX Plastics in Ashburton, a position he held for 10 years. He was also a director on the RX Plastics board for several years.

George currently serves on two other boards (both in the agriculture sector) and joined the Aoraki Development, Business & Tourism Board in October 2010. Over the years George has had ongoing involvement within the local community and has served on the boards of South Canterbury Cricket, Waihi School and the Geraldine Rugby Club.


Brett King

Brett was born and raised in Timaru and has been involved in the business sector for over 30 years specialising in business leadership and relationship management. Brett is currently Central South Island operations Manager for Fulton Hogan, responsible for  business activities in Timaru , Ashburton and Oamaru and has been with the company since 2001.

Brett is involved in various governance roles for local not for profit organisations. He is contractual advisor to the South Canterbury Hockey Turf Trust  instrumental in establishing the new water turf in Timaru), is a life member and past  Chairman of the Canterbury West coast region of NZ Red Cross as well as being a past member of the National Board. Brett joined the Aoraki Development, Business & Tourism Board in October 2010.
